Hallo, Here is a quick update on activities that are currently going on or about to start up at our House Project in Eastchurch Village Hall
Eastchurch After School club on Thursday’s. Six young people aged 8-11 years from the Eastchurch After School club are currently having a course of cookery sessions with Mike our Community Chef and his assistant Sally Reed. They are learning six of the best and are currently learning the versatility of mince.
The course has been every other week from 3.30-5.00pm. They have learnt over the last two sessions how to prepare, cook such recipes as Cottage pie and spaghetti Bolognese, which they have been able to take home and share. The aim and outcome of these sessions are to enable young people to be confident enough to prepare a meal and share with family, friends and siblings. We also want to encourage independence and show that on a budget a healthy option can be achieved.
Also at the Friday night sessions for young people with Additional Needs we are having a qualified sports coach coming in to encourage physical participation in sports activities, these sessions will include cricket, basketball and other physical activities. Our aim and outcome is to encourage physical activities promoting health, physical and mental wellbeing.
We also offer other activities including art and crafts, board games, quizzes etc, that promote physical and mental well being by engaging and supporting young people by building self esteem as well as having fun and giving them skills to be confident young people.
