The Sheppey Tourism Alliance was formed in 2009 by a small group of local people who believe with great passion that the glory days of the 1950s when the Isle of Sheppey had a thriving tourism industry can in some way be revived as we head into the second decade of the new millennium.
And, where there’s a will there’s a way, so the Alliance is working hard to form a tourism offer for the thousands of visitors who flock to the Isle of Sheppey each year.
The Alliance not only seeks to entice tourists and holiday-makers to the Island throughout the year, but also helps raise the profile both nationally and internationally of the many attractions, holiday parks, accommodation providers and natural beauty to be found just off the Kent coast and within an hour’s drive or by train from London and Dover.
Amongst its many projects the STA produces an annual “Visit Sheppey” brochure (the 2015 version is out now!) that provides the reader with a host of information on events and festivals throughout the year; useful numbers for local services; a map for new comers to the area and of course a wealth of facts on the history and heritage of the Island.
Learn more about what the Island has to offer by going to www.visitsheppey.com (which has had the 2015 event calendar updated) or come to the Sheppey Healthy Living Centre tourism information point.
