The building dates back to the 1920s and was used by the bowls club in an area famed for many splendid buildings provided for both local residents and tourists. As time progressed the building fell into a dilapidated state until it was rescued by an enterprising lady named Julie Nicholls who had the vision and the skill to encourage the local community to help rebuild it into a community asset, which today stands proudly on its own as the Sheppey Community Media Centre.
The SCMC was established in 2012 and its facilities now include a local tourism, cultural, events and activities information desk, a fully equipped media training suite and the Sheppey FM community internet radio station (for more information on Sheppey FM, please click here).
The SCMC provides units towards qualifications in IT and Media training courses in partnership with:
