The purpose of Miles and Smiles is to help our disabled community get around, including those who may have difficulty using taxis, cars or public transport. Our fully accessible minibus will enable passengers to attend their appointments and access local services safely and reliably. When joining, our co-ordinator will ask you questions about accessibility and your requirements to ensure our scheme is the best service for you. We work in partnership with Swale CVS Volunteer Transport Scheme, who have volunteer drivers to take people to medical appointments using their own vehicle.
There is a £15 Membership fee which covers a year. A contribution towards the cost expenses will be charged for each journey. We will inform you of this cost at the time of booking.
Our vehicle is adapted to ensure we can meet the needs of our passengers. You can watch a video here to see how our vehicle looks and works: https://vimeo.com/957635767?share=copy
-We have a tail lift for those who may need help getting up into the vehicle.
-For those who use wheelchairs and remain in their chair for travel, we have equipment to ensure you are safely strapped in.
– We also have comfortable spaces for carers, relatives and friends to travel with you if needed.
-We have space to store mobility aids e.g. rollators, fold up mobility scooters and fold up wheelchairs etc.
-We can take your oxygen bottles on board if needed. If you have any questions about accessibility of our vehicle or service, please don’t hesitate to ask
Our minibus can take you to appointments or services both on or off the Isle Of Sheppey.
