Sheppey FM is currently a webcast from the Sheppey Community Media Centre (SCMC) which is the media and community hub for the Isle of Sheppey, based in the Historic Sheerness Bowling Pavilion (for more information of the Pavilion, click here).
As a Sheppey Matters project its aim is to promote events, activities and training opportunities to enhance community cohesion and to reach those most in need of its services.
Sheppey FM has built up an extremely good reputation within the local community and has a listenership that is increasing rapidly. This is due to its many dedicated volunteers broadcasting live every day from 7 am to 1 am, providing an extensive choice of music (everything from classic Rock’n’Roll to modern pop hits), live interviews with charities and community groups, and now having some groups present their own show (Harmony Therapy Trust, Helping Hands, Blue Town Heritage Centre, and The Folks and Blue Club).
Sheppey FM is run by the people, for the people – which is proven every time the Sheppey FM Road Show attends a fund raising event and when local musicians and singers are given the opportunity to perform live in the studio.
