The Legacy Project
Connecting, Supporting, and Enriching Lives
At Sheppey Matters, we believe everyone deserves to feel valued, connected, and part of a thriving community – whatever their age. The Legacy Project supports people aged 60 and over who may be feeling lonely, isolated, or searching for a renewed sense of purpose.
Taking the first step can feel intimidating, which is why our experienced Legacy Coordinators work one-to-one with each person to create a tailored plan based entirely on their interests, needs, and aspirations. Whether it’s reconnecting with old friends, exploring new hobbies, or simply having someone to talk to, we’re here to guide and support every step of the way.
Our activities – from social groups and sessions to day trips and special events – are designed with our participants, not just for them. Through open conversations and active engagement, the people we support help shape the experiences we offer, making sure everything truly matters to them.
With over 30 years at the heart of the Isle of Sheppey, Sheppey Matters has long worked alongside local people and partners to tackle isolation and promote positive wellbeing. We understand the challenges older adults face – from coping with the loss of a partner, to living far from family, to feeling left behind by a fast-moving world.
The Legacy Project is more than a service – it’s a lifeline. It’s about building friendships, boosting confidence, and celebrating the incredible contributions of older people in our community. Together, we help later life to be lived with purpose, joy, and a strong sense of self-worth.
