Sheppey Wheels

What do we do?

Sheppey Wheels is an accessible community transport service offering day trips, private hire options to local community groups, or contracts with schools, care homes etc.

Who is it for?

Sheppey Wheels is a service for all ages* and accessibility needs. The only requirements for our passengers, is that everyone needs to be a member, either as part of a community group for private hire, or as an individual member. *(Under 18s must travel with an adult)

What are the benefits of joining?

Sheppey Wheels runs as a non-profit, which keeps the costs down for the user. Our day trip service also offers a door-to-door service at no extra cost.

Where?

For private hire group bookings, we have regular hirers from the Isle of Sheppey, Sittingbourne and Gillingham, and everything in between.

Our day trips are primarily open to Sheppey residents, however if we have space on our trips we can pick up from Iwade/Bobbing/ Kemsley or the northern part of Sittingbourne.

Our journeys take us all over Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Essex, and London, and we have also ventured as far as Hampshire and Buckinghamshire.

How to join

For both members – can sign up using the attached sheet, they are available in our offices – or call us and we can post/email one to you on 01795 585335 or office@sheppeymatters.org.uk

Individual membership is free, Group membership is £10 per year.

The project is not just about minibuses or journeys, it’s about reducing isolation, building friendships, and strengthening community spirit. Every trip taken contributes to a wider mission of ensuring that nobody is left behind because of transport barriers. Sheppey Wheels stands as a reminder of the importance of local, people-led initiatives that make a real difference in everyday lives.
